What are some really good studying habits?

I am a freshman in high school, taking all normal classes (no “honors” or anything like that.) I do not have ADD or anything.
I am in Algebra 1, English 9R, Biology, World History, Spanish, and the easier classes PE and Band. I’m really struggling in Algebra and Biology.
I often find myself spacing out a LOT. How can I prevent this? I’m staying away from pills and everything like that.
Also, I am a SUPER slow reader because I can never ever stay focused on it. Even if I’m really into the book. Some people read 100-200 pages in less than an hour. This takes a lot for me to admit but it seriously takes me 10 minutes to read 3-5 pages :/ it sucks.
What are somethings that I can do to help me get better grades? Because my grades are lower than ever before. C’s & D’s with the occasional Bs. Except the easier classes like band PE i get A’s in.

There has to be a reason why you’re a slow reader, you need reading strategies such as: reading a whole paragraph without stopping at words you don’t know or stopping at details you did not understand, after you get a general idea of what’s in that paragraph you can go back to it and reread it again.

The important thing is to identify the problem so that you can figure out the solution, it seems to me that you’re feeling unmotivated. You can increase your motivation by trying to watch something educational so that you can see the fun part of learning. Read more on those subjects you are struggling with, read how they are beneficial to the outside world and how they could enrich your comprehension of the world internally; simple readings that don’t get into the content of the subjects themselves.
