What could be easier that having a language learning system that is interactive and self-paced? Spanish immersion elementary school for kindergartener?
I have a child starting kindergarten in the fall and we have the option of spanish immersion in our district. Does anyone have any experience with this-good or bad? Pros/Cons?
They are fully immersed for k-6. Partially immersed in 7 and 8. By grade 9 they should be completely fluent and just take one spanish class.
i say you should do it and at home speak to your child in english. my sister is 4 years old and she is in preschool where they only speak english but at home we talk to her in spanish and only spanish since that is our first language so now she speaks both english and spanish and at first im guessing she could have felt frustrated because she was alone at her school and couldnt express herself but now she speaks both languages perfectly fine and knows how to switch off between english and spanish . We plan to always speak spanish to her at home and she will only speak english outside of our house. I am 16 and i moved to the U.S from peru 6 years ago. I didnt know any english until i moved here and went to school like any other kid and learned english on my own and i feel blessed to be bilingual and i will be trilingual because now in high school i am taking french so by my senior year i will have been done with spanish 4AP(i am going stragiht into this class without having taken spanish 1-3) , French 4 and of course i already know english . when i first moved here english was a struggle only a bit but i am in the top percent of my high school and get straight As in advanced classes.So my sister and i are both examples that even though a new language may be hard at first it is the best thing in the end ,so if you can have your child be bilingual than go ahead because it is an opportunity some kids dont have and it looks better in college transcript. best of luck!!=]
