When you consider that old-fashioned tearjerkers are an endangered species in Hollywood, a movie like The Notebook can be embraced without apology. Yes, it’s syrupy sweet and clogged with clichés, and one can only marvel at the irony of Nick Cassavetes directing a weeper that his late father John–whose own films were devoid of saccharine sentiment–would have sneered at. Still, this touchingly i…

It’s not too surprising that Shag flopped on its 1989 release but found a devoted cult following on cable TV and home video. This featherweight comedy looked like a waste of space on the big screen, but it plays very cozily on the tube, where it lends itself to popcorn breaks and pajama parties. (The lousy title must have had something to do with the movie’s initial failure, a problem worsene…

Can I learn Spanish and Japanese at the same time?

I’m Learning Spanish right. But lately, I’ve got interested in learning the Japanese language and thought why don’t I learn it?! The problem is, can I learn two languages at the same time at my own pace? I’m an upper-Beginner Spanish speaker right now and know nothing about Japanese. Could you give me your opinions please?

Yes, that’s what I’m doing. It’s not really that bad since the languages don’t really have similarities, just be prepared to make a lot of room in your brain to remember all that vocabulary!! The only thing that trips me up is that Spanish commands and Japanese commands can sometimes both end in the sound “te” and when I’m writing essays and stuff and I can’t think of the word, it’ll come to me, but in the wrong language (very frustrating, but this happens when I’m writing in English too, so…)

In any case, as long as you’re truly motivated, you can do anything you want. Ganbatte!!
