I am talking about movies that are originally made in english, like Disney movies. Most of these come with a Spanish Language track on the DVD. Do you think that they sound normal when they talk to each other,or a little weird? The normal translation for “kiss” in Spanish is “beso.” Spanish has both masculine and feminine nouns. Masculine nouns use “el” in place of “the.” Feminine nouns use “la” in place of “the.” “Beso” is a masculine noun so “the kiss” would be “el beso.”

The plural form of kiss (kisses) is “besos.” “The kisses” in Spanish means “los besos.”

The verb for the English translation of “to kiss” is “besar.”

I want to kiss you. Te quiero besar. teh kee-ehr-oh beh-sahr.

Here are a couple ways to say it as a command:

Kiss me. B?me. bEH-sah-meh.

Give me a kiss. D? un beso. dAH-meh oon beh-soh.

Let’s go into some various versions of the word “kiss.” By changing the last part of the word you can change the meaning. Here are a couple examples.

How about if you want to ask some one for a kiss good-bye? This is kind of a trickster. Even if you don’t know much Spanish you are probably aware that “adi?means “good-bye.” However “beso adi?is incorrect.

When you are parting ways with someone either permanently or temporarily Spanish has a word for the act of saying goodbye which is “despedida.” “Beso de despedida” is the normal way to say “good-bye kiss.” The literal translation of it is “kiss of good-bye.”

Give me a kiss goodbye. D? un beso de despedida. dAH-meh oon beh-soh deh dehs-peh-dee-dah.

The Spanish word Yo is sometimes pronouce Jo why is that and how?

You will see this so much in Spanish. All of the Spanish Speaking regions have their own dialect. Yo can be said “YO” or like “JO” and the 2 “L”s can be said differently too. The word “calle” or “llaves” will be pronounced differently depending on where the speaker is from! Sometimes LL will sound like J and sometimes like Y!

Just chose the dialect that is most comfortable for you!

Also, i recommend reading a bit on Spanish phonology. In Spanish it’s called “La Fonetica”

It basically explains this in a lot better detail and can teach you a lot on how to properly pronounce words (depending on the region)

You should hire a tutor. No question, CDs and books can be very good. But a tutor can answer questions that often times a CD/book cannot.There’s nothing wrong with a CD, or book. However a tutor can provide the kind of help you may not receive from a book/CD. Language tutors need to be fluent in their language. Any good tutor will be knowledgable of the different dialects in the language.

If you will be traveling to a Spanish Speaking country, learning the local dialect will help a lot with better communications. More importantly, a tutor can tell you about the casual uses of the words you will be learning. Also, CDs and books tend to be more formal. But a tutor can teach you the slang words.

You can take a course. Many people feel intimidated to learn a language along side others. In a class, students usually have to talk in front of the other students. This intimidates many people.

Learn español when you’re broke?

Does anyone have suggestions as to where I could find a Spanish tutor or language course that would not cost a lot of money? I’m pretty much broke, but I’m genuinely interested in understanding the Spanish Language to open more doors for me. I know there are CDs at the library and websites for free, but I don’t feel completely confident using these methods without some support from a real person who knows what they’re doing.
